For the second time, Hubert Hurkacz won a title in the second highest category on the tennis tour. The triumph means he improves in two rankings.

Polish tennis professional Hubert Hurkacz has won his second Masters title on the ATP Tour. In a thrilling final in Shanghai, the 26-year-old prevailed 6:3, 3:6, 7:6 (10:8) against the slightly favored Russian Andrei Rublyov.

“What a fight, especially emotional,” said Hurkacz about his success. He had triumphed once in his career at a Masters 1000 tournament, in Miami in 2021. After the defeat, Rublev hit his thigh with the bat in disappointment.

By winning the seventh title of his career, Hurkacz is moving close to the top ten in the world rankings and can also hope to take part in the ATP Finals. Olympic champion Alexander Zverev was already eliminated in the round of the best 64 in Shanghai, but is still on track to qualify for the final round of the best eight of the season in Turin.
