Dominik Koepfer prevails against Ugo Humbert in Miami. In the next round he will face Daniil Medvedev.

Dominik Koepfer is the first German tennis player to qualify for the round of 16 of the Masters tournament Miami qualified. The 29-year-old defeated 14th-seeded Frenchman Ugo Humbert 3:6, 6:4, 6:3 after 2:14 hours in the hard court tournament. In the round of 16, Kopefer will face defending champion Daniil Medvedev.

Previously, Koepfer had also eliminated a seeded player in Miami, the Argentinian Sebastián Báez. The Black Forester is in the round of 16 of a 1000 series Masters tournament for the first time since November 2021.

Another German tennis professional, Yannick Hanfmann, was successful. The 32-year-old defeated the 19th-seeded Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 3:6, 7:6, 6:4 and is in the third round, where Hanfmann faces the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov scores. Previously, Olympic champions Alexander Zverev and Jan-Lennard Struff had also qualified for the third round in a duel with compatriot Daniel Altmaier.

Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner had to struggle and needed three sets against Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor to qualify for the round of 16. The Italian won 5:7, 7:5, 6:1 after 2:23 hours. Sinner will next face Australian Christopher O’Connell.
