First victory for Wimbledon winner Alcaraz at ATP finals
Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz appears to have recovered well from his defeat against Alexander Zverev. The tennis professional from Spain achieved a clear victory against Andrei Rublev.
Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz celebrated his first victory at the ATP finals. Two days after his three-set defeat against Alexander Zverev, the tennis professional from Spain defeated the Russian Andrei Rublev 7:5, 6:2 in Turin.
Alcaraz (20) only needed 74 minutes for his success and thus preserved his chance of reaching the semi-finals. Rublyov, who lost at the start against his compatriot Daniil Medvedev, has no chance of progressing.
With Alcaraz’s victory, Zverev can book his ticket to the semi-finals this Wednesday evening. If the Olympic tennis champion wins against Medvedev from 9 p.m. (Sky) he will be guaranteed a place in the semi-finals. Otherwise, the decision will be made on Friday, when Zverev plays against Rublev and Alcaraz against Medvedev.
