The US financial investor KKR is considering the takeover of Telecom Italia for around 10.8 billion euros. The Italian group announced on Sunday evening that KKR had submitted a non-binding offer with a purchase price of EUR 0.505 per share. That corresponds to a premium of almost 46 percent on the closing price of the ordinary shares on Friday. KKR is considering taking Telecom Italia off the stock exchange afterwards. Now KKR will first take a look at the books of the Telekom group. A takeover would have to be approved by the Italian state, which has certain special rights in the group through a “golden share”.
