He is a minor unknown to the justice system who calls himself an atheist. Out of school, he is suspected of having made threats of attack against 180 information and orientation centers (CIO) spread across France. Resident in Le Mans (Sarthe), the minor was arrested on Friday. Investigators suspect him of having sent emails in which he announced a “day of terror” three days later. The latter evoked violent action with explosive belts, grenades and assault rifles. All in the name of the Islamic State organization, specifies the public prosecutor of Le Mans, Delphine Dewailly.
Upon receipt of these messages, all of the threatened centers were evacuated. The investigation made it possible to locate the origin of the message and the equipment used to send it in Le Mans, leading to the arrest of a minor teenager at his home.
The accused admitted the facts “without appearing to be aware or aware of the very strong trauma caused” by his actions, underlines the magistrate. No weapon was found at his home, nor any sign of radicalization. “His activities consist of online video games and bodybuilding exercises,” according to the prosecutor.
He was brought before the public prosecutor’s office this Friday in preparation for his appearance before a children’s court on July 4.
