Teenager ejected from carousel at funfair dies

The prosecutor of the Republic of Saintes (Charente-Maritime) indicates, this Wednesday, that the 16-year-old teenager victim of a serious carousel accident, last Sunday, died. “Transported in serious condition to the University Hospital of Poitiers, he died this Wednesday, at the start of the afternoon, as a result of his injuries” specifies Benjamin Alla.

The investigation, opened “as of the day of the facts” and entrusted to the urban security brigade of the Saintes police station, “is now being carried out on the count of involuntary homicide by deliberate breach of an obligation of security or prudence”. The hearings of witnesses, and the operations of technical expertise of the carousel, continue.

Ejected outside the caterpillar

On Sunday, around 4 p.m., a 16-year-old young man took his place in a caterpillar-type attraction at the Saintes funfair. “As the carousel began its third lap and picked up speed, the young man found himself thrown out of his car,” explains the public prosecutor.

The victim is a student at the Air Force Technical Education School at Air Base 722. He was at the carnival “with several of his comrades”.
