Teenager dies in fall at naval base

It was not yet 8 p.m. Saturday evening when the alert was given. A young man had just fallen from the heights of the Garden of the Marine Academy, in Brest (Finistère). A fall of about 10 meters in height which proved fatal. Aged 17, the young victim could not be resuscitated despite attempts by the marine firefighters and then the SMUR.

The body of the young boy had been discovered by a patrol of marine riflemen in this enclosure of the national navy. According to the maritime gendarmerie, the public prosecutor of Brest would have requested the opening of an investigation to try to shed light on this accident.

According to witnesses interviewed by The Telegram, the young man showed signs of intoxication. He would have tried several times to sit on the low wall before falling back, near the Surcouf gate.
