Technical problems: Apple stock closes higher: mass disruption at various Apple services | news

An hour-long failure of important online services caused problems for Apple customers on Monday. Among other things, the App Store, the streaming services Apple Music and Apple TV + as well as the podcast platform and the iTunes Store for downloading various content were not available, as the system status page of the iPhone group showed. The problem was only fixed more than two hours after the first user reports.

There was initially no official information on possible causes. According to information from the financial service Bloomberg, Apple explained the disruption internally with DNS problems. The DNS (Domain Name System) systems ensure that computers are associated with web addresses. DNS configuration errors are often the cause of disruptions.

According to Bloomberg, internal systems at Apple were also disrupted, meaning that some of the company’s employees were unable to work. At times, Apple’s e-mail service, the map service and the iMessage chat service did not work for users.

Disturbances of online services generally happen again and again, but for Apple it is rather unusual for numerous systems to fail for several hours.

Apple shares rose 0.85 percent to $165.38 in NASDAQ trading.
