At the start of the weekend and the autumn holidays, countless train passengers are slowed down. According to Deutsche Bahn, a disruption paralyzes all long-distance traffic in northern Germany. It is not yet clear when traffic will resume.

According to Deutsche Bahn, a technical fault in northern Germany is currently leading to a complete standstill in long-distance traffic. All ICE, IC and EC trains in northern Germany are affected, the railway said. “Unfortunately, there are short-term train and stop cancellations,” said the railway’s website.

No travel options in many directions

According to Deutsche Bahn, there are currently no long-distance travel options to and from Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony in or from Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe, Berlin and North Rhine-Westphalia. The ICE traffic between Berlin, Hanover and NRW has also been discontinued. In addition, IC trains to and from Berlin in the direction of Amsterdam are completely canceled. IC trains to and from Copenhagen and Aarhus respectively start and end in Padborg.

The company recommended travelers to get information shortly before planned trips via www.bahn.de/reiseauskunft, via the “DB Navigator” app or by calling 030/2970. The Bahn website said: “As soon as we have new information, we will keep you updated here.”

For the time being, there was no further information about the disruption. The railway only spoke of a “technical fault on the route”. Many people may have been caught off guard on the drive into the weekend.
