Taufkirchen becomes a fitness center – district of Munich

The sports and leisure park in Taufkirchen is to have an open-air gym. After the plans for such an open-air course had been wafting through the town for several years, the building authority in the town hall has now presented a concept to the municipal council, which met with a positive response. According to this, a fitness station with climbing bars, balancing beams, a calisthenics system and other equipment is not only to be built in the sports park on the gymnastics meadow. In addition, smaller fitness islands are also planned at three other locations: in the green corridor in the Am Wald settlement, at the Haus des Sports on Postweg and in the area of the future senior citizens’ residential complex on the Hachinger Bach north of the Wolfschneiderhof.

The systems are expressly not intended for bodybuilders

These four stations are also to be connected with a six-kilometer jogging circuit on illuminated streets. In this way, the aim is to bring the various districts closer together, explained building official Felix Gruber to the municipal council. According to him, the fitness course “is not intended for bodybuilders”. Rather, the variety of equipment should appeal to both old and young people and enable the individual groups to “enable a low-threshold entry into the sport,” added Stefan Beer, head of the building authority. He estimated the cost at around 120,000 euros. However, the community is striving for funding from several pots – for example in the Am Wald settlement through the urban development funding program Soziale Stadt and in the sports park through cooperation with the SV-DJK Taufkirchen, which can count on grants from the Bavarian State Sports Association.

Regarding the schedule, Beer said that the municipality wanted to build at least the large facility in the sports and leisure park this year. The money for this is already in the budget. However, before the excavators can start rolling, the municipal council still has to approve the final concept. The panel unanimously approved the preliminary plans; There was only criticism of the planned location at the Haus des Sports, since a curling track would have to make way for the fitness facility. A smaller station is planned there, as well as in the Am Wald settlement, said Felix Gruber – for example in the form of a slack line, a balancing beam and various pull-up bars. On the other hand, the system at the planned retirement home should also have devices especially for older people. Here, the municipality is seeking financing from the investor of the facility. However, since the retirement home has only existed as an idea so far, this fitness station is likely to be built much later than the other three.

In any case, the system in the sports park should make the start. A main user there will certainly be the SV-DJK Taufkirchen, which created the concept together with the community. The new fitness stations could not just be a place to play and do sports, said Beatrice Brückmann (Initiative Worth Living Taufkirchen). “We are also creating places for young people there – and we currently have a lack of that in Taufkirchen.”
