Tatort Münster “The man who fell into the jungle” – media

The dead eyes of Münster, they look at you cold and empty. Could it be that? he is really dead? Incomprehensible.

Flashback, a few days earlier: The new town clerk is ceremoniously inaugurated into office. His name is Stan Gold (Detlev Buck), and he gets to live in the elegant city apartment of forensic doctor Karl-Friedrich Boerne (Jan Josef Liefers), who receives extensive praise for this on stage. Sparkling wine is flowing, and Chief Inspector Frank Thiel (Axel Prahl) can’t believe his eyes: That’s Hotte Koslowski, the flat piper he was once in a class with! Hotte is now called Stan and is the star author who became famous with a book about his years in the jungle of Paraguay. Accordingly, he crashed a plane over South America and landed first with an indigenous tribe and then with a rebel leader. Stan not only wears a corduroy jacket, but also a corduroy vest underneath. There must be so many muse clichés.

Detlev Buck plays the star author with nonchalance and wit

Thiel is supposed to guard Hotte-Stan so that he survives the next few days. A mysterious Pablo is supposedly trying to kill him, someone from the jungle. A crazy case for the investigators from bicycle-bell-filled Münster, where guerrillas are much rarer than dairy cattle. Does the corduroy wearer give them a robber’s pistol? On the other hand, there is a person in a black hoodie constantly sneaking around near Stan Gold, and in the end a shot is fired and a person actually dies. Someone else isn’t dead for that.

In “The Man Who Fell into the Jungle” Detlev Buck plays the crazy star author with great nonchalance and absurd wit. This crime thriller isn’t really exciting, but it is exciting crime scene not necessarily known from Münster either. However, the story by Thorsten Wettcke (book) and Till Franzen (director) puts the protagonist in such light that Thiel and Boerne look a bit pale, even in their main subject of humor. Enriched with ingredients from old Münster crime novels such as bee venom and tracheostomy, the film seems a little distant on the investigative side, which in turn is very useful for Buck’s big appearance.
