She has been investigating alongside Wotan Wilke Möhring since 2016, and next year it will be over: actor Franziska Weisz is surprisingly leaving “Tatort”. The station is keeping a low profile about the reasons.

The Austrian actress Franziska Weisz leaves the “crime scene”. As the responsible broadcaster NDR announced, her role as Commissioner Julia Grosz alongside federal police officer Thorsten Falke (played by Wotan Wilke Möhring) will not be continued. Möhring will be the sole investigator in front of the camera in the two upcoming cases, which will be filmed in the next few weeks and months. Viewers will find out how and why the collaboration between the popular “Tatort” roles ends in “Tatort: What Remains,” which is scheduled to run on ARD in the first quarter of 2024.

The broadcaster did not provide any specific information about the reasons for Weisz’s departure. NDR’s fiction boss, Christian Granderath, simply remarked that Weisz had given her character “a very distinctive character.” He thanked him for the 13 cases in seven years: The role had undergone an “exciting development” but had now been told. However, Granderath would be happy if Franziska Weisz and NDR worked on further joint projects in the future.

In the long run, Wotan Wilke Möhring is obviously not supposed to investigate alone. “NDR will reveal who Thorsten Falke will be at his side in upcoming ‘crime scenes’ at a later date,” the broadcaster announced.

Franziska Weisz took over the “Tatort” role from Petra Schmidt-Schaller

With Franziska Weisz, Möhring is already losing the second “Tatort” colleague since he started working in 2013. Weisz took over the role of Commissioner Julia Grosz in 2016 after Petra Schmidt-Schaller left. She played investigator Katharina Lorenz in the first six episodes. Wotan Wilke Möhring is deployed as federal police officer Thorsten Falke in various cities in northern Germany. His first case was entitled “Fire Devil”. 18 episodes have been broadcast so far, most recently the episode “Hidden” in April 2023.
