Tap water is currently not drinkable in Friuli

In full bridge, certainly rainy, of the Ascension, restaurateurs and inhabitants of the islands of Frioul in Marseille find themselves this Friday without drinking water. Indeed, as a precautionary measure following the latest analyzes on the water network, the Société Eau de Marseille Métropole (SEMM) has given instructions not to drink tap water. Water should also not be used for cleaning or cooking food. Only the following uses are considered risk-free: hygiene, toilets and cleaning.

The SEMM is awaiting the results of additional bacteriological analyses, which could arrive in the evening. According to the communication department, the situation is not linked to the rainy weather, which often closes the beaches following poor analyses. These are not sanitation issues but network issues. And the recent analyzes, carried out regularly by the regional health agency, would have shown limited data with regard to the health risk.

The SEMM affirms, in a press release, to make “every effort to allow a return to normal as soon as possible”. A distribution of water bottles was organized from 3 p.m. in front of the Port Authority.
