The best way to kill a snail is supposedly to put it in a plastic bag and freeze it. Particularly ambitious snail haters spread upside-down flower pots or old wooden boards around the garden, which snails find ideal hiding places after they have ravaged the garden at night. During the day, all you have to do is turn the traps over, collect the snails that are lulled into safety, and put them in the freezer bag.
