FC Heidenheim was initially difficult to classify from a sporting perspective. No, if it was comparatively quiet in the minutes after the final whistle, it was more because many fans had the impression that the real highlight of the afternoon was yet to come. And that’s how it was: Christian Streich, who had spent the first few minutes after the final whistle sitting alone on the bench with red eyes (and was supposedly just thinking about his team’s many missed chances), became assistant coach Patrick Bavaria celebrated extensively. For both of them, the kick against Heidenheim was the last home game in front of a Freiburg audience.
