Taiwan says Chinese maneuvers violate its territorial waters

The Chinese military exercises announced in retaliation for Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan constitute a violation of Taiwanese territorial waters, according to the island’s Ministry of Defense. “Some of China’s maneuvers encroach on Taiwan’s territorial waters”said ministry spokesman Sun Li-fang at a press conference on Wednesday (August 3). “This is an irrational act aimed at challenging the international order.”

Japan said to itself “concerned” It front of “targeted military actions” promised by Beijing, some of which will take place inside the Japanese exclusive economic zone. For its part, South Korea called for dialogue to maintain peace and stability in the region.
