Taiko, Ethereum Layer 2 Developer, Announces $535M Series A Funding Ahead of Mainnet Launch

Ethereum Layer 2 developer Taiko announces $15M Series A funding round from Lightspeed Faction, Wintermute Ventures, GSR, and others in preparation for mainnet launch.

The investment was led by Lightspeed Faction, Hashed, Generative Ventures, and Token Bay Capital. Other investors in the round include Wintermute Ventures, Flow Traders, Amber Group, OKX Ventures, and GSR.

It is not yet clear whether this round of funding has fully closed or not. The announcement mentioned a message stating: “Some investments still require regulatory approval.”

The Series A announcement comes about nine months after the project revealed two rounds of $22 million in funding last June.

Taiko launched its sixth testnet last month. and is preparing to launch Mainnet in the next few months.

Taiko is a Layer 2 project that aims to make Ethereum cheaper while still maintaining its core features such as censorship-tolerant, permissionless, and secure.
