The ARD sharpens the information profile of tagesschau24. In the future, the news channel will offer even more live reporting and even faster orientation – especially in breaking news situations.
ARD is expanding its range of information: during their consultations in Berlin, the directors agreed that the news channel tagesschau24 to develop further in this regard.
“With the strengthening of tagesschau24 By bundling existing resources at the information location Hamburg and throughout ARD, we will inform people linearly and digitally even more comprehensively,” says NDR Director General Joachim Knuth. “Millions of people trust the brand every day daily News – on TV, on the web and in social media. “Invest in the future”
ARD will finance and organize the project by shifting and using synergies with all state broadcasters and the NDR information center in Hamburg-Lokstedt, in which cross-media news and the ARD information night are produced.
Tagesschau24 will be the first address for the continuous supply of up-to-date information, especially in breaking news situations, says ARD chairwoman Patricia Schlesinger. “The expansion of tagesschau24 is an investment in the future, because with it we strengthen the information competence and legitimacy of the entire ARD.” Tagesschau24 become the “showcase of regional, national and international information competence”.

Capable of being live around the clock
The news channel is live around the clock. In a new broadcast schedule from 5:30 a.m. to 8:15 p.m tagesschau24 present with messages. In the event of special news situations, the evening will be expanded to include special programs. There will also be an update after 9:00 p.m. There is now a total of 15 hours of news, scheduled for 2023 tagesschau24 be expanded to 19 hours of news.

Use the strength of the whole ARD
“More live talks are planned,” says Marcus Bornheim, first editor-in-chief of ARD-aktuell. “It’s not about high gloss, a smartphone switch is enough.” The aim is to “make people eye and ear witnesses”.
The strength of the ARD should be used even better: the network of radio and television correspondents throughout Germany, the strong teams abroad and the competence centers for various subject areas – politics in the ARD capital studio, business in Frankfurt/Main, knowledge in Munich, culture in Weimar and sport in Cologne.

With facts against fake news
