The iPad Air should receive the current M2 chip. The current version of the model is from 2022 and uses the M1 SoC. The current iPad Mini was introduced in 2021 and uses the A15 Bionic. The new version will have the A16 Bionic, which Apple introduced in September 2022. The SoC is used in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15.
Innovations in the entry-level iPad are still unclear
What the improvements will look like on the regular iPad is unclear. The current model was presented in October 2022. It is conceivable that the iPad will also get the A16 Bionic as a SoC; Apple currently uses the A14 Bionic for the tablet. According to the sources, no new models of the iPad Pro series are expected.
