SZ Podcast: Ukraine War: Would deploying French soldiers be an option? – Politics

Olaf Scholz once again confirmed in an appearance at the dpa news agency on Monday that he was supporting the delivery of German supplies Taurus-Cruise missiles continue to be ruled out. His coalition partners in the FDP and the Greens would be in favor of it. While there is already no agreement in Germany on arms deliveries, the French President is now going much further. At a European aid conference for Ukraine on Monday evening in Paris, Macron wondered aloud whether French soldiers could even be sent to Ukraine. Macron says that there is currently no consensus in the EU to officially send ground troops to Ukraine, but nothing should be ruled out. How likely is it that this will actually happen? And what would that mean for the further course of the war? Daniel Brössler, senior editor in the SZ parliamentary office, explains this in this episode.
