Powerful surveillance software should help prevent terrorism and crime. But for many countries the software is a weapon against completely different enemies: The technology is apparently used to monitor people who criticize their government. This is shown by the Pegasus project, an international research on the NSO Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of surveillance software.
