SZ Podcast “On the Point” – News from January 31st, 2021 – Knowledge

The 7-day incidence is 1177 in Germany on Monday. More and more people are getting infected with the omicron variant. And the highest number of infections are in children and adolescents. Many of them are not yet vaccinated and are therefore unprotected.

At the schools in Germany there is currently quite a chaos with tests and quarantine rules. “It would have been avoidable if one had simply prepared for the fact that the numbers would increase,” says Vera Schröder from the SZ knowledge editorial team in the podcast.

But according to Schröder, the pandemic has also had a psychological impact on the children and young people: “Something keeps falling out, you have to be in quarantine, your friend has to be in quarantine, then school closures are talked about again and in the end there are tests and grades.”
