SZ podcast “Munich personally” with Wolfgang Fischer from City-Partner – Munich

Hardly anyone knows the wishes and concerns of the retailers, restaurateurs and hoteliers in the city center as well as Wolfgang Fischer. In episode four of the Munich podcast, the managing director of City-Partner Munich talks about, among other things, his life in Munich and the consequences of the pandemic for the commercial sector.

Wolfgang Fischer has been running City-Partner Munich for more than 18 years. The association represents tradespeople from various sectors, hoteliers and restaurant owners. How are they doing in these troubled times? What are the most serious consequences of the pandemic for you? What are the effects of the many construction sites in the city? How should Munich develop in order to remain attractive? That and much more is what this episode of “Munich Personally” is all about.

Wolfgang Fischer already knows Munich from his student days. He studied at the Technical University of Munich as well as at the Ludwigs-Maximilians-University. He originally comes from Aalen in Baden-Württemberg, which cannot be ignored. Fischer represents his adopted country wholeheartedly and with contagious optimism. What drives him to work so hard for Munich? It’s not just professional reasons.

For the podcast of the Munich editorial team, it’s all over Munich. Ulrike Heidenreich and René Hofmann, the heads of the Munich, Region and Bavaria departments, as well as the editor Sabine Buchwald meet their guests in a place that is important to them, in the districts they know well. With the tram, the bus, the subway or S-Bahn – and sometimes with the cycle rickshaw – they travel their personal route together with them.

Each guest chooses their own route, passing construction projects, historical sites, special places with memories. It’s about the guest’s personal plans and about issues that move the city. About your favorite book, your favorite restaurant, your favorite club. The SZ podcast team invites people who have a connection to Munich. You live in the city or you are visiting. They come from the fields of politics, gastronomy, culture, sports or media.
