SZ podcast “Munich personally” with Sportfreunde drummer Florian Weber – Munich

Florian “Flo” Weber is the drummer Sports friends Stiller, one of the three “Sportis” as they are called by their fans. Weber, Peter Brugger and Rüdiger “Rüde” Linhof have been making music together for almost 30 years. They are one of the most successful German bands, they have filled the Olympic Hall, songs like “Applaus, Applaus” or “54, 74, 90, 2006” are sung along by parents and children. At the Sportfreunde concerts, young and old happily stand side by side.

Despite their success as musicians, the musicians from Munich are still involved in various other projects – aid trips for Ukraine, for example. Flo Weber finds time to paint and is a successful author. In March he published a new book in which he writes eloquently and humorously about his favorite sport and his favorite player: football and Diego Maradona.

In an interview, he explains how the book came about and what fascinated him so much about the Argentine super talent. Weber also expresses his critical thoughts about FIFA and competitive sports. He talks about the advantages of his childhood in a small town, about the beginnings of Sportis and what’s next for the band. He discusses fears and hopes, his role and responsibility as a father – and he brought an object that was important to him to the appointment.

For the Munich editorial podcast, Ulrike Heidenreich and René Hofmann, the heads of the Munich, Region and Bavaria department, as well as people editor Sabine Buchwald and social editor Jana Jöbstl meet alternately with different guests. They pick you up from where you live or work, sometimes by tram, subway, sometimes in a taxi or even on foot. Or they arrange to meet at special places in the city for a conversation.

It’s about current projects and very personal plans, about topics that move the city. The SZ podcast team invites people who have a connection to Munich. You live in the city or are visiting. They come from the areas of politics, gastronomy, culture, sport or media.
