Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz opened Germany’s largest motor show, the IAA, on Tuesday afternoon. The industry will present its latest models and innovations in Munich until Sunday. Electromobility plays an important role in this. Here, explains SZ editor Christina Kunkel, many car manufacturers are looking at the competition from China and the USA: “There is mutual surveillance. What are they doing now? Are they better? What are the new products?” Because while it is well positioned with combustion engines, the German automotive industry has to be careful not to lag behind when it comes to e-mobility, says Kunkel.
