Tour start: Alphaville fills the Philharmonie in Essen

Alphaville has been on stage worldwide for the past 40 years. Now the internationally successful synth-pop band is going on tour again – accompanied by the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg.
Almost 1,300 people visited the Philharmonie at the start of the Alphaville tour in Essen. The audience greeted the five-piece synth-pop band and the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg on the brightly lit stage with thunderous applause and loud cheers. In their album “Eternally Yours”, which was released last year, the band rearranged their hits like “Big in Japan” or “Forever Young” and translated pop into classical.
“We worked with synthesizers right from the start, so you have an incredibly wide range of sounds at your disposal,” said lead singer Marian Gold (68) of the dpa. “Therefore, the implementation of our repertoire in this style was actually a logical consequence,” Gold continues. The frontman is the last remaining original member of the band, which not only celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, but also embarks on a nationwide tour.
According to the organizer, the start of the tour in Essen was quickly sold out. Her last concert is scheduled for the end of January 2024. Until then, the band wants to play 35 more concerts.
