Chancellor Olaf Scholz: Jewish life is part of Germany
Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in a greeting: “This synagogue in the middle of Dessau says: Jewish life is and remains a part of Germany. It belongs here.” Germany will do everything to protect and strengthen Jewish life.
With regard to the Hamas attack and anti-Semitic incidents in Germany in the episode: “Looking away is inappropriate. Silence is inappropriate when Jews are not safe on our streets. When Stars of David are smeared on houses, when incendiary devices are thrown at synagogues, when the victims of terror are mocked and the perpetrators are glorified. ”
Haseloff: “Jewish people must feel safe here”

Israel’s ambassador to Germany, Mark Dainow, the vice president of the Central Council of Jews and the mayor of the city of Dessau-Roßlau, Robert Reck, and others also spoke greetings at the inauguration.
Traffic disruptions in the city
Due to the opening of the synagogue in Dessau-Roßlau, there will also be traffic disruptions in the city on Sunday. The background is the increased security measures due to the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel and because Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is expected. As the Dessau-Roßlau police station announced, it will regulate traffic around the synagogue on Sunday. Several streets will therefore be closed.
