Suspicions of “discrimination”: Christophe Galtier and his son in police custody

Christophe Galtier and his adopted son, John Valovic-Galtier, have been in police custody this Friday in Nice since 8:45 a.m., Nice prosecutor Xavier Bonhomme told AFP. A preliminary investigation was opened in mid-April on suspicion of “discrimination based on alleged race or religious affiliation“after accusations against the former Aiglons coach.

The one who is still a PSG coach is suspected of having made discriminatory, racist and Islamophobic remarks during his year at the head of OGC Nice (2021-2022) after the revelations in a letter from his former football director, Julien Fournier, addressed to his management.

I am deeply shocked by the words attributed to me, relayed by some in an irresponsible way“, reacted Galtier at a press conference after the outbreak of the case, in mid-April. Less than 48 hours after the first revelations in the press, the headquarters of OGC Nice had been searched. It is now up to Christophe Galtier and his son to give their version of the facts.
