Suspected of disclosing information, a clerk indicted

A clerk assigned to an investigation office at the Saint-Nazaire court was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention, suspected of having transmitted information on an investigation into drug trafficking, a-t- we learned Thursday from the Angers prosecutor’s office.

On June 9, the Angers public prosecutor’s office opened a judicial investigation against X on the count of “revelation of information on an investigation or an investigation for a crime or misdemeanor” punishable by ten years’ imprisonment relating to organized crime to a person likely to be involved. This investigation “had been launched on the basis of information from a particularly sensitive file opened with the Saint-Nazaire judicial court”, indicated the public prosecutor of Angers Éric Bouillard, in a press release confirming information from West France. The case in question concerned drug trafficking.

The clerk “acknowledged the facts of which he is accused”

On Monday, searches were carried out, “including within the premises of the court of Saint-Nazaire”, continues the press release. “At the same time, the suspected person, a clerk assigned to a Saint-Nazaire investigation office, was placed in police custody to be heard on elements likely to implicate him”, explained Eric Bouillard.

Tuesday, at the end of the day, the clerk was referred to the office of the investigating magistrate of Angers and indicted. “She admitted the charges against her” and was remanded in custody, according to the same source. Asked by AFP, the magistrate clarified that the defendant faced a sentence of seven years in prison and a fine of 100,000 euros.
