Suspected of a double murder, the leader of a far-right party arrested

Justice was able to get their hands on Ljupco Palevski. This leader of a far-right party in North Macedonia, who was wanted as part of an investigation into a double murder, was arrested Tuesday evening in Turkey, said a minister in the Balkan country.

Targeted by an international arrest warrant issued by Skopje, Ljupco Palevski is suspected of being the instigator and perpetrator of the murder of a 14-year-old girl and a 74-year-old man from the town of Veles ( center), whose bodies were discovered on Sunday. A public figure, he is also a former businessman and media owner who has participated in pro-Russian activities in recent years.

Four people are believed to be involved

According to police, the suspect was arrested in the Turkish city of Balikesir (northwest) where he had arrived via Serbia and Bulgaria. “The colleagues from Turkey informed me that the initiator, the organizer, the main coordinator and the direct author (of the double murder) was arrested on their territory,” indicated the Minister of the Interior of Macedonia from North, Oliver Spasovski.

According to police, four people are involved in the murders, including the girl’s father. According to the investigation, the murdered man owed money to one of the suspects and is a collateral victim in that it was his car that was used to kidnap the young girl. The car was later found charred near where the teenager’s body was discovered.
