Evacuation operation in Braunschweig: Two unexploded bombs are suspected south of the Bürgerpark. They should be rendered harmless on Sunday. This also affects train traffic.
A good 5,000 residents within a radius of one kilometer have to leave their homes by 9 a.m., as the city announced. A list of all affected addresses and a map are included on the website visible. Some light rail and bus lines can only operate to a limited extent. Which lines of the BSVG are affected is listed on the homepage. The bomb disposal also entails restrictions on train traffic, as the main train station is located directly in the restricted area. Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., several train connections will be replaced by buses.
These train routes are affected between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m
- erixx RB42/RB43 (Braunschweig – Bad Harzburg/Goslar): The train route between Börßum and Braunschweig main station is closed; there is a replacement rail service with buses on this section.
- RB 44 (Braunschweig – Salzgitter-Lebenstedt): Buses run on this line instead of trains.
- RB 45 (Braunschweig – Schöppenstedt): replacement bus service.
- RB 46 (Braunschweig – Herzberg (Harz): The trains to and from Herzberg (Harz) end and begin in Salzgitter-Bad. Alternatively, buses run between Braunschweig main station and Salzgitter-Bad.
- enno RB50 (Wolfsburg – Hildesheim): Trains only run on the section between Wolfsburg and Braunschweig. Buses run between Braunschweig and Hildesheim.
Train traffic via the east side of the main station is not affected
According to Deutsche Bahn, long-distance trains will be rerouted, which will eliminate stops in Hildesheim, Peine, Braunschweig and Helmstedt. According to Deutsche Bahn, regional train traffic via the east side of the main station is not affected.
