The majority of Munich residents are satisfied with the policies that are being pursued in City Hall. At least that’s what 55 percent of the people who were interviewed for the city as part of a semi-annual survey by RIM market research said. When specifically asked about Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD), two-thirds, 67 percent, replied that they were “rather” or “very satisfied” with his work.
The information is based on a written survey of 501 people who were asked to provide information on a number of topics between April 13 and May 12. If you only take the numbers of those who actually provided information as a basis (between 15 and 20 percent did not), the values for the politicians are even better: According to this, 78.7 percent of those questioned are satisfied with Mayor Reiter and 67.6 percent percent with local politics overall, as on Friday in the Town Hall Review was announced. Of course, the impressive numbers conceal the fact that the trend curve was already higher during this period of office. This is perhaps due to the fact that the tasks mentioned as the city’s most important problems remain: creating inexpensive housing and expanding local public transport.
Even the level of awareness was better in the past: three quarters of Munich residents said they knew Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) – in autumn 2020 it was still 88 percent. Half of those surveyed know the second mayor, Katrin habenschaden (Green Party), a third the third mayor, Verena Dietl (SPD), and just a quarter the opposition leader, Manuel Pretzl (CSU).
