Opinion poll
Majority have not yet used AI
Opinions on artificial intelligence are divided. For some, the opportunities outweigh the risks, but many also see the risks. Whether and how AI is used still varies greatly.
When it comes to trying out the technologies themselves, most people are still hesitant: 56 percent have not yet used AI themselves. However, 36 percent have already tried the technologies. In comparison, people under forty have already had more contact points: in this age group, more than half have already tested the technologies.
Citizens see companies as poorly positioned when it comes to AI
Of those who have already used AI-based technologies, a clear majority have also used them privately. 81 percent of them said this. AI was used at work by 36 percent and in studies or training by 15 percent.
When it comes to the question of how German companies are positioned in international comparison when it comes to future technologies such as AI, the verdict of many German citizens is negative. 39 percent consider German companies to be in a “rather bad” position and 9 percent even consider them to be “very bad”. Only 3 percent rated it as “very good”. 20 percent rate the situation as “fairly good.” Almost a third (29 percent) answered “don’t know” or didn’t provide any information.
Between April 5 and April 10, 2013, 2013 adults with German citizenship took part in the representative survey.
