Due to the rising fuel prices, 73 percent of those questioned in Germany would like government relief. A majority of representatives from politics also spoke out in favor of it.

Almost three quarters of Germans would like government relief because of the high fuel prices.

Accordingly, 73 percent of those questioned expressed themselves in a representative survey by the opinion research institute Civey on behalf of the “Augsburger Allgemeine”. 20 percent of the 5003 respondents thought this was unnecessary.

The supporters of the Union, SPD, FDP, AfD and the Left, each with a clear majority, spoke out in favor of relief – most clearly those of the AfD, with 89 to 9 percent. Among the supporters of the Greens, the question “Should the state relieve the citizens due to high fuel prices?” on the other hand, more often denied. However, the difference is narrow at 46 to 42 percent.

The survey took place from October 19-20, the statistical error is given as 2.5 percent.

The fuel prices have been rising for months. Diesel hit an all-time high earlier in the week. E10 premium petrol was recently only a few cents below its previous highs from 2012.
