Disruption in Germany’s most popular television series “Tatort”: At the beginning of the crime thriller “Zerrissen” there is music to be heard, but no voices. ARD apologizes and explains the breakdown.

Breakdown in the home cinema of millions of households: during the broadcast of the latest “Stuttgart”Tatort” there were sound problems in the first few minutes of prime time broadcast. The ARD wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in the evening: “We apologize for the sound problems. You can find the #crime scene in its entirety and with full sound in the #ARDMediathek.”

A spokeswoman for First German Television explained to the dpa that evening that there had been a problem nationwide for almost nine minutes with the playback of the Dolby Surround multi-channel sound system. The center channel, on which the voices and dialogues can be heard, was disturbed. According to ARD, there were no problems with stereo TV.

And that’s what the case was about, which started without dialogue for many viewers: Shortly before closing time, a jeweler in Stuttgart is robbed. A customer dies. The robbers’ actions are similar to an attack known to the police and so two families come into the focus of the investigators Thorsten Lannert and Sebastian Bootz (Richy Müller and Felix Klare), but above all a teenager who is under the age of criminal responsibility and who was a scammer.
