Summer recipe: delicious tomato sauce to make yourself

Fresh tomato sauce recipe:

Ingredients:
10 large tomatoes (or 2 large cans of tomatoes)
1 small onion
1 clove garlic
1 pinch of sugar
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp salt
1 pinch of pepper
some water as needed
3 basil leaves

Preparation:
Wash the tomatoes well, dry and dice. Remove the seeds from the vegetables. Peel and dice the onions as well. Peel the garlic and press it.
Heat the olive oil and sauté the onions until translucent. Then add the prepared tomatoes and deglaze with a dash of water. Add sugar, salt and pepper and let simmer covered for about 20 minutes. Blend into a sauce using a hand blender. If necessary, pull the whole thing through a sieve so that no pieces remain.
Put the sauce back on the stove and add the garlic. Continue to simmer on low for about 1-2 hours while watching. The longer it cooks, the better it gets. If the sauce thickens too quickly, add a little water.
Finally, season the sauce with pepper and salt and add the basil. Serve with pasta of your choice.
