Culture lovers who stay at home in August and want to immerse themselves in aesthetic, acoustic and intellectual seductions instead of in the Adriatic or Baltic Sea can draw from a wide range: Many cultural sites in the district will open their doors in the coming summer weeks, festivals and events in the open air invite you to Enjoy and celebrate in the region.
The town hall concert in Haar will kick off this Saturday, July 30th. The “Massel-Tov” trio will play klezmer music in the town hall garden from 7 p.m. with free admission. In the event of rain, the concert will take place in the community center.
Cabaret artist Wolfgang Krebs is best known for his political parodies. On Friday, August 5, at 8 p.m., he will let former and current Bavarian prime ministers have their say on the stage of the Ismaninger Bürgersaal in his star roles and unmask some political farces (tickets via [email protected]). As part of the Ottobrunn concerts, the musicians Johannes Tonio and Cornelius Claudio Kreusch invited greats of the genre to the Wolf-Ferrari-Haus and the Rosengarten respectively. This year, the jazz festival is dominated by Cuban and Latin American rhythms: On Friday, the women’s combo “Las Caramba” mixes traditional styles of music from their countries of origin such as son, cha-cha-cha, salsa or timba with elements of rap and urban music to create an energetic mix. On Saturday, the “Sons of Buena Vista” continue the musical legacy of the Buena Vista Social Club, led by the Cuban Grammy award winner El Nene, who with his powerful voice performs the “Son Cubano” at times melancholic, at times rousing (tickets and information above www.wfh-ottobrunn.de). Every year, around 100 young musicians from the countries between China and Indonesia are selected in a strict process to show their skills as the “Asian Youth Orchestra” on an international concert tour after a three-week rehearsal camp. On Saturday, August 13, at 8 p.m., the award-winning orchestra will be a guest at the Taufkirchen Culture and Congress Center under the direction of Munich conductor Joseph Bastian. It plays Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1 “Classical”, Paganini’s Violin Concerto No. 1 and Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Italian Symphony (tickets via www.kulturzentrum-taufkirchen.de).

A visit to museums and collections in the district is unaffected by the weather. The Kallmann Museum in Ismaning, for example, is currently showing works from Gerhard Schneider’s collection under the title “Kaleidoscope Expressionism”.
