For many, it was the big highlight of the Summer Game Fest 2023: the XBox Games Showcase was broadcast live last night. This was followed directly by the Starfield Direct, which gave Bethesda’s next title its own feature. In addition to new trailers and announcements for games, there was also an announcement in the hardware area and some previews of upcoming updates and addons.
Highlights of the upcoming games included:
- Fable: A first trailer for the restart of the series opened the show. Unfortunately, there is currently no further information on the content or release date.
- Star Wars Outlaws: The Star Wars Universe is growing. A trailer shows protagonist Kay Vess being hunted by bounty hunters while playing poker. The unsung star of the clip, however, is clearly Kay’s pet, who helps her cheat. More information about the game was promised for the Ubisoft Showcase on June 12th.
- Senua’s saga Hellblade 2: The sequel to the 2017 action-adventure is scheduled for release in 2024 for XBox Series X/S and PC. Players once again control the Celt Senua, who is plagued not only by her past but also by hallucinations and horrific visions.
- Forza Motorsport: The latest part of the Forza series will be released on October 10th. In motorsport, realism is paramount. The first vehicles and routes could be admired in the trailer.
- Cities: Skylines 2: There are also supplies for construction fans. With Cities: Skylines 2 the latest city building simulation will be released later this year. A more precise date was not given.
In terms of technology, a new version of the XBox Series S was announced. It comes with 1 TB SSD and in carbon black. The console will be available from September 1st, 2023 for $349. The most important updates / addons should include the announcement of The Elder Scrolls Online: Shadow over Morrowind for June 20th. Cyberpunk 2077 is getting its first major addon, Phantom Liberty, on September 23rd.
Starfield ended the evening with his own show. In addition to a number of interviews with the creators, viewers were also able to get an idea of many areas of the SciFi adventure. In addition to the planets and the ships, some characters of the story were also introduced. The character editor is intended to give players maximum freedom of choice when creating their desired character. Starfield will be released on September 6th, 2023.
