Everything didn’t happen that way, everything happened a long time ago. The current bosses of the major bank Credit Suisse want nothing to do with the revelations of the Suisse Secrets, they deny responsibility. A lot has changed for the better in the Swiss financial center since Bern succumbed to immense international pressure 13 years ago and relaxed banking secrecy for foreign customers; it was a historical turning point. But many in Swiss politics and business still lack insight. Much of what Swiss banking law still protects is morally questionable. Autocrats and criminals have used the financial industry to cheat entire states and their citizens out of millions. Journalists are prevented from investigating crimes.
