The Ukraine crisis is making it necessary to find some solutions that can at best be described as the lesser evil. Does this also apply to liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is now to be used, at least in part, as a replacement for Russian natural gas from the pipeline? Economics and Climate Minister Robert Habeck has been on a shopping spree these days to secure as much as possible of the scarce goods on the world market. He has agreed a “long-term energy partnership” with the Gulf state of Qatar, under which LNG is also to be delivered to Germany.
