Study on women in classical music: Bayreuth plays more female conductors – culture

There is good news for everyone who likes to see and hear women. A new survey finds that last year there were 14 women among the 100 busiest conductors. Sounds ridiculous, but ten years ago there were four. Equality is making progress in the industry, like that of the classical event portal bachtrack.com, commissioned study shows, in slow motion. If things continue at this rate, then in just under forty years half of all top conductors will be women, i.e. the part of humanity that makes up half overall.
