Study on the welfare state: those who work more have less money – economy

How absurd the German welfare state sometimes seems can be shown using a small example calculation. A single parent with two children who works for 1,000 euros gross per month receives citizen’s allowance and other social benefits so that the family can live on. So it comes to 2823 euros per month. If she now works half as much, for 1,500 euros gross, she will have 2,907 euros at the end of the month. She earns an additional 500 euros – and in the end she wins just 84 euros.
