The film is based on the life story of comedian and musician Alfred “Weird Al” Yankovic. Daniel Radcliffe stars in the lead role.

With a curly wig, mustache and accordion, actor Daniel Radcliffe can be seen in a new trailer for the first time in the role of comedian “Weird Al” Yankovic. “I hope you’re ready for this,” says Radcliffe (32) as Yankovic at the beginning of the trailer before entering a stage with his accordion.

After several brief scenes showing concerts, street performances, and a fight at a restaurant, the trailer ends with Radcliffe’s character closing a door. “What can I say? I’m full of surprises,” he says. The preview of the biopic “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” was released on Tuesday.

The film is based on the life story of comedian and musician Alfred “Weird Al” Yankovic, who built his career on parodies of well-known pop songs. Five-time Grammy winner Yankovic is the “best-selling comedy artist of all time” according to the Hollywood Walk of Fame – six of his records have gone platinum in the United States.

Yankovic co-wrote the script for the film. In January it was announced that the Harry Potter star Radcliffe should play the 62-year-old in it. Yankovic said he was “absolutely thrilled” about Radcliffe’s participation. “I have no doubt that this is the role that future generations will remember him for.”

The film is scheduled to be available on streaming provider The Roku Channel this fall.
