Straßlach-Dingharting prepares for the blackout – district of Munich

You don’t want to spread panic, assures Mayor Hans Sienerth (independent). Nevertheless, the municipal council of Straßlach-Dingharting decided to set up an emergency supply. According to Sienerth, this is not a matter of a few hours of power and heat failure, but “if it is a question of several days”. One of the most important measures is to “bring the combined heat and power plant in the town hall back to life” after a power failure, because it supplies all municipal facilities with heat and electricity. Although it produces electricity itself, it also needs some to start.

With a bulk purchase of diesel-powered generators, the municipality wants to make provisions. This includes a supply of diesel. There are already full tanks in the community, two more with a capacity of around 2000 liters are to be added. These gas stations should work without electricity. A tank should also be mobile in order to be able to transport it to the place of use. Power generators are also installed at the two drinking water wells in the municipality.

According to Sienerth, the production of heat is also important, especially for the fire station, because otherwise the water in the tanks of the fire-fighting trains will freeze. The town hall, in turn, is important as an important communication center, but the fire station should be the contact point for citizens if telephones and cell phones fail. Fire engines will then be stationed in the districts.
