No risk. Strasbourg Cathedral, a very touristy and emblematic building of the city, was briefly evacuated Wednesday afternoon after a false bomb threat, police announced.
“The evacuation of the @Strasbourg cathedral has just taken place following a malicious call,” wrote the Bas-Rhin police on X. “A security perimeter has been set up. Everything is done to remove doubts as quickly as possible. Please avoid the area and make the work of those involved easier. »
According to a police union source, the evacuation measure was taken after an unidentifiable telephone call received around 3:45 p.m., which claimed that a bomb had been planted in the cathedral and that it would explode in the afternoon.
The building, very popular with tourists, was then evacuated and a security perimeter set up. The security visit carried out in the cathedral and its surroundings, which did not detect anything suspicious, allowed the security perimeter to be lifted approximately an hour later, added the union source.
This evacuation took place while several high schools and colleges were also recently the subject of false bomb threats, in Alsace and the rest of France.
