Typhoon hits Japan with heavy rain
The south of Japan in particular is hit by heavy rain. The authorities warn of landslides and mudslides.
Typhoon Mawar has covered large areas of Japan with heavy rain. The national weather agency warned residents in the southern vacation paradise of Okinawa and parts of western and eastern Japan on Friday of an increased risk of mudslides and floods.
The second typhoon of the season moved northeast from the southwest over the sea near Kagoshima Prefecture with winds of 90 kilometers per hour near the center of the storm. High waves prevailed on Okinawa and in Kagoshima.
