The powerful cyclone Biparjoy, which killed at least three people in India and Pakistan, has left Pakistan. “The state of emergency and all restrictions have been lifted,” Arbab Ali, district administration official in the Pakistani port city of Karachi, told the German Press Agency on Saturday.

At least 5,000 people who had been evacuated from parts of the metropolis in the southern province of Sindh have returned, according to Ali. The fishermen were allowed to resume their activities from Sunday.

“The danger of the hurricane is over,” said a spokeswoman for the national civil protection agency. Authorities had evacuated more than 82,000 people from the coastal regions of southern Sindh province this week before the cyclone hit there.
