Sting has sold its entire music catalogue.

British musician Sting has sold the rights to his entire music catalogue. Among them are hits like “Roxanne”.

Sting (70) has sold the rights to his entire music catalog to Universal. This was announced by the Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG). This includes not only the solo works of the British musician, but also his titles for the band The Police. Hits like “Roxanne”, “Englishman in New York”, “Every Breath You Take”, “Message in a Bottle” and also “Desert Rose” are included.

“It is absolutely essential to me that the work I have created in my career is at home in a place where it is valued and respected,” the musician said in a statement. Not just so he can “connect with longtime fans in new ways,” Sting says, but also to bring his songs “to new audiences, musicians, and generations.”

Sting is said to be getting $350 million

UMPG did not disclose the amount for which the company acquired the worldwide rights. According to a report by the industry magazine “Variety” Sting was reportedly eyeing a total of around $350 million in the past few months. This corresponds to the equivalent of more than 305 million euros.

Several world stars have already taken this step recently. A corresponding deal from Bruce Springsteen (72) with Sony Music Entertainment according to the “New York Times”. had an alleged value of an estimated 550 million US dollars (around 480 million euros). David Bowie’s heirs (1947-2016) according to insider information received around 250 million US dollars (around 220 million euros).
