Still untouchable, Max Verstappen wins for the first time in Shanghai

Victory in the sprint race then pole position on Saturday, success in the Grand Prix this Sunday. Max Verstappen took a stroll around the Shanghai circuit this weekend. The Red Bull driver, three-time reigning world champion, won his fourth GP in five races since the start of the season (the 58th of his career), and added a trophy to his incredible haul: the Dutchman had never never before imposed in China.

This incongruity is largely explained by the fact that the event had not been contested since 2019 and the victory of Lewis Hamilton, the following four editions having been canceled due to the very strict measures taken by the country against Covid epidemic.

Great performance for Norris and McLaren

Verstappen won ahead of Briton Lando Norris (McLaren), a good second. The Mexican Sergio Pérez, his teammate at Red Bull, completes the podium. As for the Ferraris of Monegasque Charles Leclerc and Spaniard Carlos Sainz Jr, they were content with 4th and 5th places.

The Alpine of Frenchmen Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly finished outside the points, in 11th and 13th positions respectively.
