Two-thirds of Germans for deportation of clan members
Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser wants to be able to deport members of criminal clans more easily in the future. Critics warn of the danger of clan imprisonment. But the voters like the plan – especially the supporters of a party.
Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (SPD) apparently hit a nerve with her proposals for deportation policy. According to a Forsa poll for the star 67 percent of Germans are in favor of simplifying the deportation of suspected members of criminal clans, even if they have not been convicted by a court of law. 29 percent don’t think the plan is right. Four percent have no opinion.
Clan members usually mean members of extended families of Arabic origin. However, deportation would only be possible if the person concerned does not have German citizenship. Even if many details are unclear, there is support for the plans across the population. The supporters of the AfD (85 percent), but also the voters of the CDU/CSU (73 percent), the SPD (65 percent) and the FDP (61 percent) agree.Only Green voters are divided on the issue: 49 percent support the proposal. Just as many reject him.
